It includes a small test map with an example sound.
If you want to put one in your map see How to Use section
Author Information
------------------
This is my first QuakeC patch. I've always thought that music sets the
tone of a DOOM level, but since Quake music is on CD, I made a solution
to that problem.
How to Use
----------
If you want to put your own music/sound into a level with this patch,
you need at least a utility called Cool Edit. You can find it at
http://www.syntrillium.com
Load up the wave you want to use, and select the whole thing, then goto
the View|Sampler Info on the menu and add a new Sampler Loop then go click
the radio button labeled "Sustain (infinite loop)". Click OK and save the
wave as "bgsnd.wav". I highly suggest putting everything in a PAK like
I did for ease of distribution and not cluttering up folders. I also
included the modified misc.qc file so if you want two or three seperate
sounds, you can just add a new ambient_bgsnd1 or something similar.
If you want to convert MIDI to WAV, download WinGroove from
http://www.cc.rim.or.jp/~hiroki/english
This program is a WaveTable emulator so if don't install the device drivers
unless you want all MIDI to sound like that. Open a MIDI inside WinGroove
and in the File menu "Create WAV file". Then just open in in Cool Edit and
add the loop. Try to keep the MIDI small though, becuase WAV files can get
huge!
Distribution Permissions
--------------------------------------
You may distribute this Quake modification as long as all the files in
this archive remain unmodified. This mod cannot be placed on any Quake
CD collections (except Walnut Creek) without direct permission from me.
